Exhibition Stalls established by the Department of Agriculture on occasion have remained the main attraction for farmers from the very first day of Annual Jhiri Fair as well.Progressive farmers too felicitated at times on occasions for appreciable work in the field of Agriculture.
Exhibits of different wings of the Department like Vegetable Improvement Scheme, Mushroom Development, Seed Certification, Soil Testing Laboratory, Seed testing Laboratory, Plant Health Clinic, Floriculture, Soil Survey, Agriculture Workshop etc. were too centre of attraction by the departments in different events being organized by department from tym to tym which are displayed through the stalls to generate awareness among the farmers regarding modern agricultural technology and to educate them on improved input usage. Various services such as soil testing, crop disease diagnosis and management, Kissan Credit Cards, PM-KISAN etc are also being provided by the department of Agriculture to the farmers.
More than 200 live exhibits of paddy, maize, exotic vegetables, mushroom and sugarcane crop brought by the farmers of different places were displayed to the public to project the activities of department of Agriculture. Jhiri Mela was the main attraction of department of Agriculture.
Prizes were also given to 66 farmers for best exhibits out of which 24 consisted of Ist prize, 18 IInd and 09 3rd besides 15 consolation prizes. More than 5 lakh farmers participated in the mela from J&K and adjoining states.
Joint Director (Extension), Chief Agriculture Officer, Jammu, SDAO Marh and other officers were also present were among the participants in the events being organized by department of Agriculture.
